YSCP can only send one team of 4 to the Chapter Competition on 2/4. The team members were chosen by looking at scores from the School Competition and the results of the Math League Competitions from this year. Our team members this year are Araaf Mannan, Christopher Rusinque-Castro, Eli Rose, and Ayla Dedeoglu. The alternate team member is Isaiah Watson.

The Math Team at YSCP meets weekly during both club sessions on Mondays. The YSCP Math Team participates in two main competitions: Math League and MathCounts. Below you will find information about both competitions as well as the schedule of competitions for the 2016-2017 school year.
Welcome Mathletes!
The Math League that we participate in is a part of the Intermediate Math League of Eastern Massachusetts (IMLEM). The local Math League meets 5 times throughout the year, with each school involved hosting once in the year. Each student chooses to compete in 3 of the 5 Individual Categories, as well as in the Team Round.
Make sure to put the dates on your calendar for each Math League meeting. Miss E-H will send out a reminder email to parents and students before each meet.
MathCounts is a national math competition, which begins with the school competition at YSCP. Students from the school team then compete in the Chapter Competition. Those individual students and teams that excel in the Chapter Competition then move on to the State Competition and possibly even onto the National Competition.

The Chapter Competition will be held on Saturday, February 4th at Penn State Altoona. Miss E-H will be arranging transportation for the team to get to the competition.

At the Chapter Competition of MathCounts in Altoona on Saturday, February 4th, the YSCP school team consisting of Araaf Mannan, Christopher Rusinque-Castro, Eli Rose, and Isaiah Watson took third place!

Calling all Stemnauts!
The Math Club is competing in a competition that is co-sponsored by NASA and Texas Instruments. It has students using math and basic coding skills to complete challenges and collect points. The winning team receives many cool prizes, including new TI graphing calculators. The team members are Araaf M, Christopher R-C, Ashrafur Khan, and Isaiah W. Their chosen team name is A Piece of Toast.
